Speech delay

Hi all, very late to join the group but I just downloaded the app. My guy just turned 2 on the 28th ❤️ happy belated to all the April babies! Anyone else’s toddler speech delayed? He only says maybe 5 words and three phrases. We were referred to speech therapy but the wait is long, haven’t heard back from them yet. We repeat words often, play with him, sing to him, read to him. Any suggestions?

I really recommend showing flash cards and watching Rachel episodes with him. I sat next to her and repeated all the words Rachel thought and she caught up very quickly.

I’m gonna go against the popular opinion here and say cut the tv time. It’s been proven this can cause speech delays in some children and they actually learn far better and faster from face to face time with their caregivers (you). I would continue what you’re doing and maybe join a mommy/baby group to be around other babies

No speech delay for us, but I found this account fairly early which I found helpful to teach me how to encourage her to learn. She's got some good free content, plus points out other products that she likes as a speech therapist for kids https://www.instagram.com/learntotalkwithme?igsh=bWVmODRjc3FkdHRk

I’m in the same boat! Waiting to hear back from the referral. I often sit down with my son and go over flash cards with him but alas he only says a few words. It’s difficult 😞
