Help 😫 11 month old deliberately banging head

Really not sure what to do! He’s been doing this on anything he can. Doors, walls, windows, floors. I try to redirect and have resorted to padding everything with cushions. Has anyone else’s baby done this? Is it just a phase or do I need to worry? He will sometimes smack his head so hard I’m so worried about the damage it’s doing to his little head. Thank you x

My kiddo tried it but i just kind of ignored it and she would stop. Otherwise reach out to the pediatrician

My son did this we mentioned it at his assessment as well and said the same just try and make it safe where possible. Apparently is a phase they go through. And said once he starts walking he won’t do it as much. He’s nearly 18 months now and is walking and doesn’t do it anymore

My son used to do this around that age right before bedtime! I read somewhere it’s a self soothing technique. He did eventually stop doing it. But yeah it has me worried because he would do it really hard on the wall sometimes!!

My son went through a phase of doing this. I think it was partly frustration that he couldn't do things/communicate with us

@Hannah thank you so much that’s so reassuring! X

@Zoe thank you for commenting, can’t tell you how much it puts my mind at ease to know others babies have done the same. X

Definitely a phase all kids go through at some point. My oldest went through this but he would get a running start and plow into the wall head first 🥴 he didn't do it for long lol
