Smelly farts

Does anyone else's baby have the most ridiculously smelly farts. Like I'm talking rotten egg adult smelling farts and farts a lot and sometimes cries during trying to fart. Any advice and similarities with their little ones would be appreciated :) I'm wondering whether he has a bad tummy or allergy or something. I asked the doctor a week or so ago and she said its normal for babies to fart and it's better out than in but I just can't help but think this isn't quite right!

My baby is exactly the same!! Also having issues pooping with lots of straining!

Yup literally listening to my LO fart as we speak and it stinks! I think it's all to do with them having to learn to control their bowels. It was a reflex when they were born but now they've having to work out how to poop which is why they strain so much. Whether this contributes to the smell I'm not sure but I posted something similar a few days ago and lots of mums were in the same position

I was just googling about that today! My girl's farts smell awful and she also cries sometimes when trying to fart. As far as I can tell it's possibly due to formula milk, and/or it happens when they don't poo often, and so the longer their poo is 'cooking' in there the smellier their farts get.

Thanks for all the answers, I'm glad I'm not the only one 😂 I'm tempted to speak to my HV and ask whether they think it's the formula and/or somethings wrong but I did ask the doctor and she said its OK...

Yes! Also have a poo issue my GP believes it a cow milk protein allergy so I'm cutting dairy from my diet GP also said it could also indicate I'm not drinking enough to cover hydration for both of us.

Same 😅 their digestion isn’t quite the same as ours yet and when they take a bit longer to poo, both poo and gas can be very very smelly, especially when they take longer to digest, for a few days or so but yea absolutely normal. And air coming out is good 🙏🏻 if they had trouble bringing it out, they’d be in a lot of pain. My daughter was having issues bringing out gas and she became colic 😖. My son isn’t having that issue but still strains at times and takes a few day to poo x
