I'm 7 weeks pp from my GA C-section, I don't know what time I woke up, but my little girl was born at 7:04pm. You can feel a little groggy afterwards, but it doesn't really feel like a lot of time passes from being put to sleep to waking up. It literally felt like I was only out for a minute for me. My partner was able to have full daddy daughters' time with her once she was born and had a chance to meet and bond with her. I hope everything goes well for you and your little one! Xx (My partner just informed me that I was out for about an hour)
I did! My spinal didn't fully work due to scar tissue buildup, so I had that and GA. I don't think I was out very long. My husband was holding our baby in about 15 minutes and he did skin to skin while I was out. I was also able to breast feed with a little help once waking up too.
They put me to sleep after baby came out. I was waking up when they were wheeling me out of the OR. I was very hazy and a lot was happening in those minutes right after.
Hi! I was under for my c section 10 weeks ago. I woke up about 30 minutes after my little one was born!
I had an emergency section under GA, my little one was born at 16:42 and the soonest memory I have after waking up was around 7 as my midwife’s were swapping shift, but I have no idea how soon after I actually woke up, hope all goes okay for you!
I woke up after around 3hrs and I felt fine (my body was probably grateful for the sleep, best sleep I’ve had in a while 😆) I was worried it would affect breastfeeding but everything was fine
I’ve had previous spinal surgery, which goes down to L3. I was always told I needed to be under general for a section but now they’re saying that they can do a block for me to be awake for the section.. I would double check with your spinal consultant!
I had an emergency c-section done under general anaesthetic 16 months ago with my daughter as her heart rate dropped twice. She was born at 8:80pm and I think I woke up between 11-12pm. I think it can vary for different people. First thing I said when I came round was ‘Is baby okay?’
Emergency C-section, baby born at 10am, brought me to Mat ward to see her at 2pm. I was super groggy for days, it was the pain killers as much as the GA. I wish someone had recorded the birth and that I had written no narcotics on my birth plan. Milk was delayed coming in, but it did come in. If you want to breast feed look up positions for after C-section, I think reclining works.
My midwife I originally spoke to said they aim to wake mum up in theatre so I really hope that’s the case🥺 the thought of my husband sat waiting for me breaks my heart!
Hello! I am 7 weeks PP and had my C section under GA as they failed to get the spinal In 4 times! Baby was born at 9.15am and I woke up at 10.50am! I'm not sure what is normal but I didn't feel like I missed out too much. I tried to see it positively - my husband who had spent hours feeling helpless through my whole labour was able to be hands on and take full care of her and bond in this time! Hope everything goes well for you xx
