CMPA or silent reflux?

Hi! First time mum here! My little boy is 4 weeks old and about 4 days ago he randomly started screaming for hours after feeds (he is formula fed). We have tried everything we could think of- feeding upright, longer time upright after feeding, infacol, using boiling water from the kettle instead of prep machine. He is trumping a lot, not constipated. He is bringing up quite abit of ‘clear fluid’ after feeding, for up to 2 hours after. He started with a sniffly nose last night. He will scream on and off, when he settles he falls asleep and then wakes himself up screaming. The only strange thing is he feeds twice during the night perfectly and goes straight back to sleep? I am thinking of taking him to the GP tomorrow as wondered whether it could be a milk allergy? Anyone experiencing anything similar?

I would say it sounds more like reflux than CMPA (I’ve had two children both diagnosed CMPA). If it is reflux, infacol will only make it worse as it contains an acidic ingredient which will aggravate little ones tummy but as always if you’re unsure, definitely check with the gp xx

@Abi Thanks! I did think he would react to every feed if it was CPMA and he feeds perfectly during the night and sleeps straight after. I also don’t use infacol at night only in the day, so this could make sense!!! Thankyou, no more infacol 😂

Sounds like reflux. I'm pretty sure my almost 5 week old has is as she has similar reactions sometimes especially when we were using infacol. We switched to dentinox which doesn't have the orange in it. X

We have similar for our baby boy and we found gripe water has helped, not sure if it’s reflux or gas problems as it’s very random but defo helped… he is 5 weeks 6 days and started it a week ago xx

We have been EBF for 6 weeks and introduced formula last week but one day after few days of trying formula for two feeds, she was really fussy, came out in red bumps, nappy rash wouldn’t go, sneezing and coughing, I’ve gone back to just breast feeding and all those symptoms have gone, seeing the GP tomorrow but we think it was a mild milk allergy

@Jo how do You give gripe water to your baby
