have you looked into convertible car seats? this is the one we have and it’s backwards and forwards facing up to 100lbs! and can even be used as a booster seat from my understanding https://www.walmart.com/ip/5129928452

No, we got a convertible one so she could rear face longer

You have to look up the car seat laws in your area. Then the manufacturers suggestions. Most people get convertible seats to save money. You can have them rear facing until they're tall/heavy enough to face forward. Harness can be removed when they're big enough to use the regular seat belt. Then it can break down to just a booster seat until they're big enough to ride in just a regular seat with seat belt.

We got a convertible one. I’m going to rear face as long as she’s comfortable as it’s safer for their neck.

We got the Graco extended fit so we could rear face longer.
