Tantrums

Hey moms! My 20 month old toddler bangs her head or hits her own head on the floor or against the wall when she’s angry. For example in daycare they went outside to play and the called me and told me when it was time to go back inside she got upset and didn’t want to and banged her head on the playground. Or another example if she grabs something she’s not supposed to grab and I tell her no and take it away from her she gets upset and bangs her head on the floor. When she does this I pick her up and she starts trying to scratch my face. Is this normal? What can I do during this time?

Omg! Haha my daughter does these tantrums too all the time 🙃 I just ignore. One of the first times she did it, I tried to talk to her the tantrum took over an hour…. I ignore it or try to put something soft under her, or move her away from something that can hurt her, and when she’s done I pretend it didn’t happen. If she starts I’ll go get her book, or toy one time I grabbed a Barbie played with it loudly not looking at her and she stopped and joined. Another I read a book out loud and she came over. Stay close, make sure she’s safe, and ignore it. I also remind myself it’s almost impossible for someone to intentionally cause damage to their brain the worst that will happen is a bruise (most of the time) Just my experience and opinion tho! Definitely normal! I’ve seen lots of kids do it (I’ve worked in daycare years) just a little welcome to the “terrible twos” 😂😂😂
