My OBGYN recently told me that my placenta has a marginal cord insertion. They assured me that it’s nothing to worry about and that there’s nothing I need to do for it at this point. My next ultrasound is scheduled in four weeks, where they’ll reassess and hopefully provide more details. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, do you have any advice, or would you be comfortable sharing your experience?
I had it with both my kids and everything was normal. They may just have you do more ultrasounds to make sure your baby is still growing and the growth isn’t hindered. I still had normal sized babies (8 lb 5 oz and 6 lb 14 oz). My doctor warned me that if the umbilical cord breaks after delivery of the baby in a worst case scenario then a D&C could be necessary to pull out the rest of the placenta if she wasn’t able to pull it out with her hand. Mine didn’t break but they wanted me to be prepared just in case. The baby would already be out at that point and it wouldn’t affect the baby. There’s nothing they can do about it though and I wouldn’t worry about it.
@Nikki thank you so much for sharing! Definitely helping me cope 💙 … I was also freighted when they told me the oxygen levels could potentially be lower and that there was nothing to do! Thank you again!
