Socialising with speech delay

Hi all! Just wondering if anyone else is in this situation and how you manage it? My son has a speech delay and I’m quite anxious about meeting Mums & their kids due to it. He can’t communicate with kids, screams a lot and can be quite forward/overstimulating. He attends nursery twice a week and mostly just wants his friends to chase him or plays alone. Am I worrying for nothing with this?

Hi have you taken him to speech therapy? Or spoken to a health visitor?

@Dee yes, he’s got an appointment tomorrow with speech & language. Fourth referral as first via HV they closed it, second was us, third nursery and at the same time, hospital after he had pneumonia. Xx

@Shanice Oh good. Definitely speech and language will help further and get flash cards to practice with him. I did the same with my daughter and she is saying more words now. She loves reading also

My girl is the same she is speech delay and she is 3 years old, I have the same fear meeting new mums but I always say to them that she is speech delay and development delay so is different from other kids and more of a handful xx
