Toddler stuff

Does anyone else feel like they simply can’t do things with their babies outside of the house? Went to story time at the library with my 16 month old and every time we do anything like that he’s always the only one who doesn’t really.. baby like the other babies lol. I’m not necessarily concerned it’s just extremely overwhelming and I just wanna be able to do fun things without literally losing my breath chasing after him all the time.

you just have a mover, and that’s okay!! i have a 16 mo mover too, so things like story time don’t really work for us. when we go to the library, i usually let her go around in the kids section and just do her thing. we also have a museum pass, which helps too!

I definitely got the judgement and eyerolls at library time. I stopped going. My toddler is off the wall sometimes when I take him out.

@Christina🤱🏼🍂☕️♈️ mine too!! we go to the park, weather permitting, or i just let her do her thing in the kids section of the library

Toddlers aren't meant to sit quietly and behave. They'll get enough of that when they are old enough to go to school. Now is the time for them to explore their world and their new physical abilities. And anyone giving a toddler's parent side eye for that can go scratch.

I'm so against "children should be seen and not heard" - it just sets up agreeable children to be doormats when they grow up.

@Amanda oh absolutely I agree! I don’t expect any toddler to sit still and behave. No side eyes will ever phase me 😂 my baby is just a baby.

My 3 year old was like that at this age and it hasn’t been until just recently that I’ve been able to take him to story time and have him sit and listen. My youngest will sit and doesn’t stray far in most situations. Yours is just active and that’s his personality. It’s tough so I totally get it. Even now he’s the one I need to keep a close eye on because he has no fear.

@Tina he is definitely very active. We absolutely love his little personality ❤️ im a gentle first time parent and I know it’ll just get harder. It helps knowing I am not alone!

My daughter is like this too 🥴 granted, during story time she actually crosses her arms and mean mugs everyone 😂 but like in general she's not necessarily troublesome.. just a bit hyper and can't sit still lol. It's exhausting but I take her out anyway. We don't have a car so not too many options besides library, Park or taking her to the mall during the week and letting her run wild while it's nice and empty. Plus the mall near us has a spot called Playland where it's $20 for an all day pass, has a ball pit, obstacle course, slide, etc. So we take her there once a week to let her go ham lol

I also have a mover. She likes to explore EVERYTHING. I still take her for the exposure cause she has this weird fear of people, specifically women

My boy (same age as your, a year +) is all over the freakin place, he’s into everything! Pulling everything down, opening the trash can. A menace! I won’t bring him anywhere but the park haha

@Erin LITERALLY 😂😂

Both of mine have been like this. My youngest is 17 months and literally never stops. I swear she finds trouble wherever she goes. My once always moving toddler boy is now a very smart and healthy 11 year old. They are learning and developing. The days fly by, so just try to think of that when you're out of breath lol.

I have a mover too! Sandbox playground are the most relaxing I get. Recommend

I only take my daughter to places she can run around, climb, move around. Anything that is sitting and listening is way to overwhelming

I go to story time he can last about 20 minutes then I let him free range. People shouldn’t care it’s important to be able to participate in social things while being a baby. They need to experience
