Numbness

Does the numbness ever go away? Or is it permanent? The numbness covers a large area and honestly makes me feel sick whenever I touch it. I hate it, it covers the whole c section and up above my belly button and almost to my hips on both sides, id rather it be painful than numb! It’s a horrible sensation and makes me cringe

9 months pp and I've not been numb for a long time, can't remember when the feelings came back exactly but I'm not numb anymore, it could well be different for each person though

I’m 7 months PP, and the numbness has gone away, however I didn’t experience numbness as fat as above my belly button. It comes from nerve damage which over a few months goes away but not for everyone, if at any point the your numbness also includes shooting pain the you will need to have it checked out. The other reason is the build up of scar tissue as you heal could be putting pressure on your nerves, which can cause chronic pain and numbness.

I think it depends on the person and individual nerve damage. I had my section in June 23 and am still numb in some areas, I’m pregnant again and still can’t feel much around there. My MIL said the feeling around her scar (3 sections) never returned!

I think if it was just where the scar was then I’d be okay! But it’s like half my belly and I obviously touch it a lot. Least with a the scar area it’s so low down 😢

Scar massage may help

How long are you PP? I was numb for quite a while but I think it went fully around 3/4 months but I had complications and was in hospital for a little while after. I quite enjoyed the numbness because i could inject the blood clotting stuff without additional pain. It served its purpose for me. I did massage pretty much every day but that was to make sure everything was alright and to try and reduce the pain i had xx

I’m 8 months pp and the numbness went away on the sides but is still numb in the centre from the scar up, definitely feels horrible and weird but have just got use to it now x

I'm 3 months pp and only remember a short period of numbness, definitely individual

I’m almost 3 months pp. The numbness has faded but not completely gone. When I removed the steri strips in the shower it felt so gross I almost blacked out. Now touching it feels unpleasant but tolerable. I massage the scar area with some mineral oil every day. It seems to have helped break up some scar tissue at least.

Mine disappeared about 6 months after my first section. Your nerves have to restitch and heal. I’m 12w pp with my second section and no numbness at all xx

I’d look into cesarean rehab, I follow someone called cesarean phoenix and she takes a holistic approach for recovery which has had great results x
