40 and IVF

I just turned 40 this month and have my first IVF appointment on Tuesday. I had my tubes tied and have 2 kids 16 and 13. I do have a higher BMI of 39. I want to know if anyone is in the same boat as I am. I also have PCOS had a little trouble getting pregnant with my first took clomid and no problems with my second. I just want to know if I can even do Ivf with all those issues.

You can absolutely do ivf as eggs are retrieved directly from the ovaries. You’ll need a PCOS protocol, and need a clinic that works with higher bmi (some clinics have a cut off of 40) and will proceed if you are in good general health. You may need some extra tests if they have any concerns. Getting your AMH done and follicle count is useful so you now what to expect at 40 in terms of reserve and egg yield.

Yes! I highly recommend CNY fertility in New York and Florida. Even if you’re not near them you can travel for treatment and the cost is much lower!! They don’t refuse treatment based on BMI or age!! Sending luck and baby dust!!! 🧡

Thank you unfortunately I'm in Kansas and I'm sure it's going to cost a lot here to do it . I should find out the cost on Tuesday they did say my insurance does cover some of it.

@Amber I understand. If it is cost prohibitive please look at CNY. Even with travel it might be less.

Hey! Im 39 with a BMI of 34! They retrieved 37 eggs (there were more but they were too close to my bowel) 23 were mature, 11 fertilised & we ended up with 5 embryos 😊 Just about to have my second embryo transfer after first one unfortunately failed. Feel free to message me if you ever want to ask anything or chat 💝

Thank you good to know there is hope

My husband is 16 and younger than me this is pretty much our only chance financially.
