We were able to use footie sleepers during the casting phase, sometimes a size up, but if you don't have footies yet, don't register or buy them. Nightgowns, knotted gowns, snap bottom footless rompers (Hudson has some great ones on Amazon) will work well during casting and boots and bar. Two piece pj's work great too for the bar when she gets bigger. Also get some nice long knee socks for when you move to boots. We also did sleep sacks when he moved to the bar so he wouldn't bang it on the crib. My advice is to take lots of pictures of her cute little toesies and document your casting journey. I wish I had taken more of my son before casting so I could see how far he's come. He just turned one and finished casting, wears his boots at night, and has never let clubfoot slow him down! He rolled over at 6 weeks using the weight of his cast to help (he has left clubfoot), crawled, and has been walking with a walker since 9 months - he's so close to walking on his own. You got this! ❤️
I remember both crying and trying to forget we even had the diagnosis while I was pregnant. We didn't tell anyone because I didn't want to make it real and worried about how my baby's life would be compared to his older brothers. But he's now 13m and it's barely affect his life and he's done amazingly. Apart from putting on his boots and bar at bedtime, it doesn't affect him at all now
First, breathe. It's going to be okay. We didn't know with ours until he was born so at least you have some time to process and prepare. They really don't know what causes clubfoot so it's not your fault. I also totally get the "imposter syndrome/survivor's guilt" of having a mildly medically complicated baby. I'd think to myself "Some babies have to go to the NICU and get open heart surgery - mine isn't that bad. But he's still not healthy, but not sick enough to count." That's why making other clubfoot mama friends is so good! As for practical things, when we were casting I hated the texture of the fresh plaster our ortho used - so if you cut the toe off of an adult sock you can make little leg warmers - also great barriers for poop (I cried when my son peed on his cast!) And since you have a little girl, you can actually get some cute lacy baby leg warmers for her! (More in next comment)
