Also, if you start panicking hard during the procedure, they can put you under general anaesthesia if you wish. The idea of being cut open made me squirm too but I couldn’t move my lower body so the chance of me squirming physically was zero 😂 The staff talk to you as well checking in regularly. In terms of the numbness it’s such an odd feeling but I wouldn’t say bad at all. you can feel something is happening like I said but to me it felt like passing gas or baby kicks at the very most. Recovery is harder than the actual operation itself in my opinion and even then it’s definitely manageable all being well and if you’re not high risk.
Side note we took a hypnobirthing class and made me wayyyyyy less nervous for a vaginal birth. It really helped with the unknown of a first. Just something to consider because for me to the thought of being cut open is crazier than a vaginal birth (especially after I broke my leg last year and got cut open/metal pins for that) my preference would be never to be cut into again (leg was a fine experience just really rather not get surgery)
I had a c section in Feb and it was amazing they will take care of you they will make sure you are okay all the time the section takes a bit time they birth partner will be with u so that helps coz your mind will be a bit on them I don’t know how many birth partners u can have. U will not be able to see everything but ones the baby is out then u can see the baby they will show. U can ask them to do skin to skin after u can have a music u can pick your own. It was a really good experience They will keep you over night coz it is a section and they need to make sure u and the baby are okay. They will make you pee 3 times in the special thing to make sure you passing your urine
I’m not sure about what the wexham park c section aspect is like as I had my c section elsewhere but not a huge fan of the maternity unit in there that I used for a brief time. In terms of c section, I’m so happy I chose to do that rather than a VB. it’s okay to be frightened but more often than not, it goes really well. - one birthing partner with you in the room - you can’t see what the surgeon is doing, you can feel something is happening but there’s no pain. a blue sheet is put up and only the staff and your birthing partner can watch and take photos if you wish - how long the procedure takes and how long you stay in hospital depends on any complications but mine was around 30 mins. I had very minimal blood loss and didn’t need blood thinners.I stayed for 1 night. - sometimes they play music in the room for you. Usually it’s your birth partner who will be doing the distraction I was absolutely petrified but I’d do it again in a heartbeat
