Working mums!? How do we do it🙈

What is everyone doing for work who have little ones with not a lot of childcare options? I have 2 under 2, and the cost of nursery fees for me to return to work is insane🤦🏽‍♀️ what jobs are people in that they find a good work life balance with a decent pay, that isn’t 40+ hours per week?

I should add, my partner works Monday-friday, meaning I either need to work evenings and weekends or fork out for childcare for both kids

I left my full time nurse job to do 2 nights a week with my 1st now I have 2 children I quit and stayed on the bank and have also joined an agency to so I choose what I work. I work my wife's days off but It means I never have to work a birthday or Christmas again and I'm always free for school events x

I’m in the same situation, my partner works Monday-Friday so my only option is weekends/evenings. Nursery costs are too expensive, and have no one nearby to help. I’ve been turned down 2 jobs last week 😢 it’s not easy finding the right hours.

I also have 2 under 2 and I am going back to work with condensed hours so I have one weekday off. They are going to nursery but the 30 hours is a godsend. My partner works weekdays to

I work 4 days a week almost full time hours as a designer. Just under 30k a year and my husband makes the same as a photographer. We send little one to nursery 3 full days a week which costs us about £800 including funded hours. We use £100 child benefit to contribute, then pay 1/4 each of the bill from our wage. Then the other 1/2 is paid from my husbands 2nd income as a wedding photographer. Without that 2nd income we’d be screwed. Grandparent has baby boy 1 day a week and then I dont work Fridays

@Hayley not sure if you know about tax free childcare? Whatever you put in the government tops up with 20% and you can pay your nursery direct from that account, more info here https://www.gov.uk/get-tax-free-childcare x

@Hayley I was just about to say you can get tax free childcare they will pay a good chunk of your childcare bill. I did it with my 1st before any of the funded houses were a thing they use to pay £160 and mine wasn't as much as yours so definitely apply x

@Lucy yeah we only pay towards 80% of that £800 x

@Lena sadly already doing that 😅
