Free childcare funded hours

My little one is 9 months in August. I return to work October from maternity leave. I plan to return part time and dad works full time. Ideally I would like her to be settled into nursery before I return to work. When would I apply for free childcare hours please? And how do I do this?

She could start in September with the new term and get her settled before you go back

Thank you, would I need to apply in August? Do you know how i would apply at all please?

You can apply from them being 23 weeks old, and will kick in the term after they turn 9 months (so September for you) https://www.gov.uk/free-childcare-if-working/when-to-apply

Amazing thank you so much xx

She will need to start before the head count (census day) to be eligible for the full term: when you choose a nursery they’ll explain when that day is. The earlier you get your 30 hour code just means you’ll have to reconfirm it earlier that’s all. I would apply probably June. I used to work in funding so feel free to ask away 🥰 xxx

Amazing thank you. The nursery are aware I would like her to attend there but told me not to call until August. I’ll give them a call closer to June as you advised and explain that I’d like her to start earlier and ask about the census day xx
