Big baby

I had a growth scan today at 32 weeks, 4 days. My sonographer said baby is measuring in 87th centile. I said well what does this mean? He said they’ll monitor it and I may have to go on a diet? Then I saw the consultant and she said everything looks in a normal range, that my body wouldn’t make a baby too big for me/my pelvis and not to read into it. Anyone had similar experiences? Can’t help but think it’s all a bit here-say. FYI my first baby was born small hence the growth scans! Thanks in advance

Hello! This happened to a friend of mine, and she found out everything was fine. The growth scans are an estimate so try not to worry too much. I read a positive birth story where a doctor estimated the baby to be 11 pounds, made the patient be induced due to the concern, and the baby was only 8 pounds when they were born! Trust your body, your instincts and keep open dialogue with your midwives!

Thank you that’s really comforting. I’m over here thinking ‘I’ve got 6 weeks to go, they’ll only get bigger’ 😂

I was told my baby was 99th percentile and we had many growth scans they even tried to say i had GD i didnt after repeated tests and baby weighed 7lb at birth. As long as you and baby are doing well that's the main thing x

I've been told my baby is in the 98th percentile (jumped from 88th percentile). I was never told to go on a diet! My sonographer just said I have a healthy thriving baby and an excellent placenta- the estimates are often out and there is a margin of error either side so I am trying not to worry about it too much! As long as you don't have another health conditions like GD there shouldn't be any big concerns x

This is a "guestimate" they told me my baby was very large when born she was only 7lb. As long as health it's all good

Thank you so much everyone. Appreciate the reassurance!
