You have to wait a minimum of 12 weeks after childbirth, even if you have a c section 😊
With my first I was due when pregnant and waited until after. I was told that I couldn't have a smears until at least 12 weeks after birth no matter if it was virginal or section.
12 weeks
I was due for one last year but was pregnant & had my baby in November & they scheduled mine for may!
Yeah I waited 12 weeks too, as advised by my GP
I waited 18 months. we wanted to start trying for another baby so I wanted to have an overall check up including smear test. Personally I wouldn’t have it done during pregnancy - i had no issues with not having it for such long period so i might wait again after baby is born and i feel confortable attending an appointment.
I not long had my smear and they told me they wouldn’t be able to do anything for 3 months but luckily my baby was 5 months
I also was due one when pregnant. You can go from 3 months after. Make sure you go, I cancelled the first 3 apts given as I have no help with childcare and I ended up needing an biopsy due to pre cancerous cells (luckily didn’t need them removed as low level) x
They did my pap at my 6 week pp appointment
@Kate not true. I had a c section and they did one at 6 weeks pp
@Kalie fair enough, I was told NHS guidance is 12 weeks after birth. Seems a lot of women on this post had the same advice too as we're all from the UK
3 months x
I get one every 6-12 mo but I'm at risk for cervical cancer as I've had a scare in the past. I've had them done while pregnant and my OB does one early every pregnancy.
Is this not allowed while pregnant?? I got three done as I was high risk and they always did stuff like that with me

@Des they don’t like to poke around while you’re pregnant. I had a bleed when I was about 7 months so had a colposcopy but just to check what they could see they then said come back for the smear 3 months after birth. But if you were high risk they probably wanted to keep an eye on you x
@Stef that is definitely probably why then, I have an incompetent cervix so I start dilating early because my body can’t support the weight of a baby without my cervix being stitched shut, so they did a lot of Pap smears and vaginal ultrasounds throughout my pregnancy starting at 14 weeks
Oh yeah I’ve heard of the stitches to keep the baby in. Yeah they only go in there if necessary x
You have to wait 6 months after baby due to abnormal cell results - I’m in the same position and this is what I was told by midwives and doctors
Same, I just got a letter to book mine (im four weeks pp) but internet says wait at least 12 weeks so I haven’t ring my gp yet
You have to wait 3 months and have had your first period. Literally had my smear yesterday.
my doctor gave me mine 8 weeks after my c section
Maybe check with your dr? They could probably still do one while pregnant
