Early scans

Does anyone recommend getting an early scan? I’m 7 weeks with my first and petrified of MC the anxiety is killing me and don’t know if I can cope until 12 weeks

I was the same so I had an early scan at 6 weeks. You couldn’t see much but I saw the little flicker of a heartbeat. It really made me feel better

Not in this group- I’m 36 weeks with 2nd. I’ve had early scans with both just to make me feel happier and know there’s a baby in there, deffo recommend if you’re feeling like this x

I had an early scan with my 1st and have booked in for one this time round too. It deffo eases anxiety and also I find the private scans a much nicer experience than NHS x

It can be reassuring for most women - obviously nothing can rule out the worst happening but I’d say if your anxiety is sky high that in itself isn’t very healthy x

You can and they can be lovely if all is well. But remember that the majority of these places aren't medical facilities so if it's bad news they're not necessarily going to handle it in the best way. Also, things being ok at 8, 10, 16 or whatever weeks only shows you a snapshot of that exact moment. It doesn't mean nothing will go wrong. So as long as you're prepared for that then I'd say do it. We had early scans with both our kids and have been lucky that everything was fine.

I had my first scan at 6weeks & 1 day, absolutely the magical thing to see, saw the heartbeat 💗 most certainly worth getting an early scan.

It will give you a lot of reassurance. I had an early scan thinking I was 7 weeks and I was between 5/6 and all they saw was a yolk sac. I’ve to go back on Wednesday to make sure there is a fetal pole and heart beat x

It doesn’t hurt to get an early scan x if it will make you feel more relaxed you should 100% get one x i had an early scan with all my babies i could never wait for 12 weeks x

I was the same with my first and I had a private scan at 7 and 9 weeks. I’m now 7 weeks with my second baby and I’m going for a scan today. If you have anxiety like me then there’s no harm in reassuring yourself ♥️

With my first pregnancy I had an early scan at 7 weeks as I was so anxious about a MC but I found it only really eased my anxiety for about a day and then I went back to be anxious about losing the baby again! Decided not to have early scan this time, what will be will be. Good luck with whatever you decide ❤️

@Victoria I had this yesterday at a private scan. I thought I was 6 weeks 5 days and they said based on gestational 5 weeks 1 which does not match my dates at all. Slightly worried now. They saw sac, yolk and baby but no heartbeat. Should all be fine if I go back in a few weeks but I’m going to wait it out as I didn’t like the way they delivered what they saw and put more doubt in my mind then anything.

@Holly yeah, I have my scan on Wednesday and I am absolutely petrified because they put doubt in my head too. They didn’t even tell me exactly what I was as I don’t think they measured the yolk sac, they just told me I was between 5/6 weeks. They just told me that if things progressed I’d see a big difference in baby’s growth and handed me an uncertainty viability pregnancy leaflet and told me to come back in 2 weeks.

@Victoria how did your scan go?

@Victoria I’m so glad!! ❤️ this makes me feel better too. I really didn’t like how they deliver it in those early scans

@Holly tell me about it! They had me thinking the worst. Before my appointment yesterday I was being sick because my nerves were so bad! Try not to worry, I’ve seen a lot of people going through the same thing and all is well ❤️ let me know how you get on at your next appointment x
