Newborn constipation

Advice please! My newborn is 5 days old and seems to be struggling with constipation. Her most recent stool (after 17 hours of not pooping) has been solid and she is squealing in pain. I don’t know how to help her and I feel useless please please share advice

Is she breast or formula fed? My little boy was constipated on cow and gate when he was a newborn. We combi feed but it really didn’t sit well with him the bottle we’d give him. We swapped to hip organic and he was much better. Also the ready made formulas apparently have a laxative in so it helps to get things moving but at 5 days old I’d personally speak to the health visitor first as they’re still so young x

So I read this post from a doctor saying sometimes babies don’t know which muscles to use when trying to poop, so when you see your baby trying and tensing up to go, take a bit of tissue rolled up and “tickle” their actual bottom like their but hole (😂 I laughed when he said this I was like what the hell hahaha but then the comments were people thanking him saying it worked!!!!) cause apparently if u tickle their bottom when they’re trying to go their body naturally focuses on that muscle and helps them know where to push!! Just something I read online, seems like it helped others so it might be worth a go? good luck i hope she feels better soon xxx
