Contraception options

Im 6 weeks post partum with my second and I am looking at contraception options. I’ve previously always been on the pill (I’ve tried combined and progesterone) and although I’ve been ok on both I didn’t love either (plus I didn’t have a toddler and a newborn at the same time which might make remembering to take my pill a bit harder! 🙈) Just wondering what everyone else is planning on doing/ if anyone has any big recommendations? I’ve had a few friends with negative experiences of the coil/ implant which puts me off. Don’t worry going through labour and getting no sleep will be contraception enough for the next month or two 🙈🤣. I’m just trying to decide so I can ask for it at my 6 week check up next week.

Could’ve written this myself! No recommendations here but interested to see what others say.

I’ve also been thinking about this! Prior to getting pregnant I’d been on the implant since I was 17 (I am now 31!) and it always served me very well! Never had any issues. Obvs you get it changed every 3 years and with some implants I had regular periods, then I’d have it changed and then I’d have no periods, and then sometimes regular. So if you can deal with that then it’s all good! I’m not sure whether to get the coil or go back to the implant

Condoms?

I had a really positive experience with the mirena coil for 6 years - definitely would recommend x

The copper coil is fantastic if you're after a hormone free option. We'll be going back to condoms. However, I'll be tracking my BBT to know when I ovulate so we don't have sex during that window ( to then move away from condoms )

I’ve got an Apple Watch and I’m going to use the Natural Cycles app which tracks basal body temp. I used this to get pregnant but will be using it on the contraception mode from now on :)
