School nursery

Does anyone know if I can use tax free childcare to pay for the lunchtime cover at school nursery? I have to provide packed lunch and also pay £3.50 a day to cover staff costs for the 30 min lunch break. Gov website says it cannot be used for lunches but not sure if that means lunches as in food or lunches as in cover for lunches. If that makes sense?😂

Will entirely depend on the nursery policy. If it is 9-3 worth asking the question directly as they can then explain their reasoning. Although there isn't a reason why tax free can't be used... funded hours would be a different reason x

Thank you. They are registered for it but they use parent pay so not sure if it would work. I will ask when I go. I only remembered about it yesterday, definitely worth using it if we can x

It may be as in a school staff might have their lunch at that time and they have to pay for additional lunch staff (just as an example). No harm in asking

Yes, that’s what the charge is for. I’ll ask, just with the gov website saying can’t be used for lunches made me wonder if anyone had tried already 😊x

Hi sorry to jump on here late but I’ve just started my son in a school nursery , we use the free hours , you do you have pay for lunches or you can just do a packed lunch.

My daughter’s school doesn’t offer hot lunches for nursery, it’s packed lunch only. We have to pay to cover the wages of the lunchtime staff as that time is not covered in the funding. We can use tax free childcare to pay, it might be worth asking your school if you can too as it’s a 20% saving 😊x
