What age did you all switch from a forward facing car seat to boaster seat?

I have heard both extremes so trying to see what the pull comes back with!

From the car seat manuals it’s with weight and height and that’s usually by 5years old lol because not all kids get to the weight limit.. but do look gigantic in the car seats lol. I can still put my two year old in an infant car seat lol. She is under the limits. Since I’m trading it in soon for 20% at the store I won’t have the car seat no more and it’s already been rained on since I left it outside. Legally child should be at least* the age of two but I heard the longer they stay facing back, the better and I don’t know when that is…because of weight and height limits that are mentioned in the manuals. My kids are two&three, we put them forward facing already because of the minimum legal requirement. We got that same car seat in purple. We have it on lower setting with the padding still

@Lis | mommy of 3 girl what? Everyone you know forward faces with a booster seat at ONE???

Its not about the age but the specific car seat regulations . If they max out height or weight then thats when its time to switch , the age doesn’t matter fr

Around 8 years old

I’m anticipating being rear facing until 4 or 5 then forward facing after. Our car seat goes up to 120lbs so if she’s like me size maybe graduation 😂

No child should be forward facing before 2. Minimum. Boosters between 5-6 based on maturity. No booster when they pass the 5 step test/ or outgrow the weight/height limit

She never mentioned under 2years old. It’s 2-5

When I think of a booster seat I literally think of the just square cushion things with no back? Is that what we’re all thinking of here? Because I can’t imagine a small child with just one of those! My boy is 4 and still in a proper harnessed car seat, like the picture, but now forward facing. He will be in that until he is no longer required to be in a car seat by law, which in the UK is 12 years old or 135cm, whichever is first.

Oops, sorry about that! I hope you get the car seat issue resolved♥️ I’ll go see what’s recalled because all my kids car seats are three different ones also sorry I misread your comment! Infant car seats don’t hold more than 35lbs lol. It’s 12am

The results are giving me heart palpitations 😂

In Australia it's a Rear facing capsule (for under 6 months) Rf or FF car seat (age 6 months to 4 years) FF High back booster seat. Like a car seat but bigger (4-7 years) In Australia it's legal to FF from 6 months

You can get forward facing car seats that go up to 12yrs which is when it’s recommended kids can travel without a booster from 12

My son is 2 - still rear facing and planning to keep him that way till atleast 6

@Sarah there are high back boosters and no back boosters

My 4 year old is still in a rear facing car seat lol. It goes to 49 inches or 50 pounds and she's still a ways away from both. We'll probably flip her forward facing when she starts school honestly, but it may happen before then. A booster seat won't happen until at least 6 though

Mine all went from Rearfacing seats to high back booster seats at 5

Depending on how tall our kids will be. Don’t want them smooshed against the back of the seat. I’m predicting the ages of 2 though for all of ours. Anything after the age of 3 for rear facing I feel is ridiculous I was sitting on the bare seat at 5.

My 3 year old is still rear facing

@Kloey studies have shown that rear facing to the max is safer. Just because back then you weren’t in a car seat at 5, doesn’t mean it’s safe
