News on Growth scan

Im measuring 32 weeks and have regular growth scans. Everything was going good so far up till my recent scan baby measuring 3.8lb and dropped from 38th to 17th percentile. The doctors have told me about early induction or ceserian. Which I both cases I am not prepared. I still have till 36 weeks but I have been crying all day and depressed about the whole thing. I just want my baby to be healthy and be able to deliver past 36wk. Has anyone been similar situation? Positive stories please 🙏🏼

These scans can be wildly inaccurate. I can't remember the exact statistics but the margin of error is huge. Ultimately, it's not a decision anyone else can help you with. Choosing induction or section is a huge decision. Make sure you're fully informed before you make a choice. What are their reasonings for wanting baby to be born early? If your placenta function is good and baby is growing then in my opinion, your body knows what it's doing. Babies can gain 0.5lbs a week in the last few weeks xx

I’ve had similar recently (I posted on my profile having a bit of a wobble if you wanted to read it for more context 😂). Baby has dropped from 93rd to 63rd within 1.5/2 weeks so was also told about delivering early and also couldn’t decide what I felt most comfortable with. Met with my anaesthetist on Tuesday and I’ve put a ‘flexible’ plan in place. Basically said if I spontaneously go into labour early then I’ll aim to continue for a vaginal delivery (previous history of 2x preterm labours at 32 weeks - both spontaneous and all went well). However, if for medical / health reasons I need to deliver early then I’m opting for a section - purely to try and eliminate/ reduce any further complications. However I am fully aware that things can change in an instant so I’m not setting anything in stone and just going with whatever is the safest option in the moment. Sending lots of luck for whichever you decide xxx

For different reasons I had to deliver my son at 36 weeks and I just wanted to say he’s absolutely perfect and you’d never know he had a slightly rough start. We did spend a few days in the NICU followed by the SCBU but came home at a week old. I was offered steroids before he was born to give his lungs a little extra help but after speaking it through with the consultant decided against it but if we’d gone for the steroids he probably wouldn’t have needed any NICU time but I don’t regret my decision. Also I was establishing breastfeeding so his weight went down before it went up which added a couple of days on. It’s really scary feeling like your timelines jumped massively and options are being taken away but things could be a lot more positive after your next growth scan. A smaller baby doesn’t mean they won’t be healthy, I’m sure your baby will be absolutely perfect their just super keen to be in your arms 🤍

I'm in a similar situation. I've to go for another scan next week after baby dropped slightly on growth curve and mine is just sitting on 10th percentile line. I too had a rough few days of anxiety that I've been trying to deal with. They've also scheduled a consultant meeting where I imagine I'll be offered induction/ c section too. As long as my baby is still growing between scans and blood flow still looking good through the cord, an active baby then I'll probably be telling them thanks but no thanks. Everything is your own choice. Some cases induction is needed but others it's not. I've heard of many cases where babies induced ended up being a much healthier size than predicted and therefore it probably wasn't needed. Take things 1 day at a time. My plan is to always ask for time to make decisions when possible so I can decide and do my research first.

I had my son at 36 weeks he was 7lb 3oz and perfect in every way x

They’re prepping you for worst case scenario. And if they want to induce or advise a c section, you can always say no. Mine is on the 10th centile and they haven’t mentioned either of those things to me. I just have an extra scan to check again in 2 weeks.

i am in the exact same boat. he was on the 38th centile the whole pregnancy. at 30 week growth scan he dropped to 17th. had another scan today and he’s dropped even more to the 7th centile. they told me today i won’t be allowed to go past 37 weeks but no plan was put in place. it’s all a whirl wind x
