It’s used to induce a period (in most cases; I’ve also had it used to stop bleeding… that part doesn’t make sense to me). To induce a period, usually you take it for 10 days or so then stop. It’s progesterone so that’s essentially mimicking your luteal phase… where your progesterone would increase but if you aren’t pregnant, the drop in progesterone (after you stop the meds) will trigger your body to shed the lining.
