Baby acne

Little one is 6 weeks on Tuesday and still getting really bad baby acne flare ups. At the moment we just use Mustela no rinse cleansing water once a day in the morning, raw coconut oil on dry patches and baths twice a week with no products - just warm water and breast milk. Flare ups still coming and going - sometimes really bad. I know it doesn’t harm them and is pretty normal, but is there anything I can do/use to try and prevent it?

Does your baby have any other symptoms? I thought my baby had baby acne but it turned out to be cmpa, not to worry you I’m sure it’s not! But just keep an eye on it as a rash for so long can be a sign of it. Common symptoms of cmpa are reflux/ lots of spit ups, fussiness, constipation or diarrhoea. Hope you get to the bottom of it for little one xx

My baby had baby acne and mustela no rinse cleansing water cleared it up. I use it 3 times a day and don’t use any creams on her face for now. I find creams and oils clog up her pores more. After doing this for 3 days it cleared up.

My baby had bad acne on face and chest for 3-4 weeks and I was not putting anything on as remembered the midwives saying not to use products for the first few weeks. Then I started to simply clean his face with Johnson's baby lotion and moisturize it with Aveeno sensitive skin cream and it went within the space of 3 days!

Putting breastmilk cleared my baby's acne, it cleared within 2 weeks or so

if you are breastfeeding then it might be something that you are eating that causes the baby’s acne. Not sure if you are into alternative medicine but In herbal medicine there is a concept of heating foods. They can cause skin problems. So if you eat too many heating foods like red meat, black or chilli pepper, red fish like salmon, alcohol or if you don’t drink enough water or ear enough greens or fruit- as they help to remove the heat - then this can cause a built up of heat in you, and your milk will pass it on to the baby.
