My little girl loves hers (tried it last year and she hated it and just sat down and whined), we have the backpack style ones. She’s a bolter and she’s almost faster than me (I’m pregnant). Maybe some kids are more sensible, but she’s quite far away from understanding not to get under peoples feet and road safety etc. Maybe some people think little ones should be strapped into buggies until they’re capable of walking sensibly. 🤷♀️
I don't understand the absolute madness of some people think any child below of the age even like 4 could even get close to understanding safety in this context. Using reins is ridiculously judged and used right I don't see how it can be detrimental at all.
Thanks all!
I use them and hold his hand we teach it's safe for him to walk a head on his reins at times but can't me to a road or busy area we hold hands. Did it with my oldest as well x
We use reins every time we are out. Until she has a sense of direction and will hold our hand properly (sometimes she asks for our hand and will hold it but it has to be on her terms). It's so much safer to use them. She loves the freedom on them and I love that she's safe.
We have a little life rucksack for my daughter which is a life saver when shopping because she just wants to explore and get in peoples way! I try to encourage her to hold my hand first if she refuses I attach the reins. I don’t know why people are so against them to be honest.
I can’t imagine life without reins at this point with my 2 year old! 😆
I think some people feel they give your LO a false sense of security, and doesn't teach them how to be safe out and about in busy places? I can't think of many other reasons. We tried to use one but it was rubbish and my toddler spent the whole time lunging forward and screaming. We've only *just* started to master hand-holding, but it's not always easy and he does tend to want to run ahead, so if it's not safe to let him, then he just goes in his buggy. I wish he did better in the reigns, I wouldn't judge another parent for using them, whatever works 🤷🏻♀️
