Flying with toddler

Has anyone flown recently with their toddlers? Trying to figure out his car seat. We have the Greco convertible car seat the one that turns and we want to bring it but it’s so darn heavy. I want to lap hold and we plan to check it in but I’m afraid they will destroy it. I saw Costco has a 60$ car seat wondering if it’s worth getting that. Last time we traveled he was 6m in the infant car seat that was so easy to travel with. And held him in my lap.

We didn’t bring a car because my family had already purchased one in the state we were Flying to but I heard the Costco one is lightweight and evenflo. We have babytrend graco and chicco for our cars and our graco convertible is definitely the lightest and easiest out of the 3 but it’s the extend to fit I think

Hi! We just flew with our daughter internationally. We checked the car seat. She was a lap infant. It’s helpful to bring a carrier. We gate checked the stroller. There are also companies that rent car seats. We’ve never had an issue with checking ours though. Just get a bag for the car seat for extra protection

There’s a cisco brand car seat that’s light weight and good for travel. It’s available at Walmart.

We just flew to Hawaii two weeks ago. We brought our car seat on the plane. We have the Uppa baby car seat and stroller so we checked the stroller at the gate and used the car seat on the plane. I personally liked doing it that way for such a long flight. My daughter seemed really comfortable and I felt at ease that if there was any unexpected turbulence, she was safe. My husband made the point though that she's almost tall enough to be kicking the back of people's seats, so when we fly later this summer on a shorter flight, she'll be a lap infant. The car seat is also a bit on the heavy side, so if we couldn't have put it under the stroller it would have been a pain lugging it through the airport. Doable, but a pain. But, I still think that for us personally, on longer flights we'll take the car seat and try to get seats with more leg room and on shorter, less than three hour flights, have her as a lap child. That's just our recent experience with the pros and cons that we encountered.

Oh, and Southwest told us we needed to have her in a window seat with the car seat. Not sure if that matters to you, but that's just where they have people put them. Not sure if this is every flight or just on longer ones.

Looking into the cisco car seat.. it’s 60$ and it has good reviews might get that instead of taking my heavy $400 Greco thank you guys
