Universal credit v Tax Free Childcare

For any part time mums out there are you claiming universal credit or tax free childcare? Me and my partner are really struggling to get by with childcare costs totalling 500-600£ after tax free childcare deduction. It’s crippling us. My partner doesn’t want all the meetings and hassle with universal credit. I went through the UC calculator and it said we could get £700 a month. Anyone in the same position? Thanks!

Rather go through the hassle then struggle financially. It's not that many meetings to attend.

@Serena do you know how many roughly?

I can't remember it was 6 years ago I started uc. It's different if your working aswell which i am u dont need to keep going in there. U have an online account which they contact you on and leave messages etc.

We are both working but have a uc claim open Last month are nusery fees we're 1197 and uc refused us 1009 for it so we go with us rather than tax free We also have had 1 meeting that was at the start about a year ago just to verify id no more meetings after x

@Louise so UC didn’t give you £1000? So are you better off with the tax free childcare? X

Oh sorry meant refunded us 1009 so financially for us it works out better having a claim open x
