Reassurance

Sorry about the long post. I have had my last full period on the 20th of march. I then started bleeding on the 11th of April and thought that it was my normsl period. I had 3 to 4 days to bleeding nornal period amounts and since them been spotting every day(pink and dark brown blood) . Had a clearblue positve pregancy test last thursday saying 2 to 3 weeks pregnant. Then tested again Monday and it now says 3+ weeks pregnant. So i know that my hcg levels are increasing but I am so worried that this is an ectopic pregancy. Doctor said that they cant refer me to epu cause im not far along enough but the doctor was couting the april bleeding as my last period and i really think that i was already pregant at this point. I booked myself a private scan for Saturday (i will be 6 weeks and 1 day pregnant if i count the march period as the last one. But im so confused . Do you think that they will be able to see anything? And even if its too early for heartbeat will they be able to see if its an ectopic pregancy or not? Any advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi love! I’m surprised they haven’t referred you, as anyone pregnant can be referred to the EPU when they’re under 16 weeks but I think, don’t quote me to this, over 5 weeks. I would definitely call 111 expressing you are around 6 weeks pregnant and you are experiencing pain and/or bleeding. I did this and was referred to my local hospital for an appointment two days after my call. At a 6 week ultrasound I had (also due to bleeds), they should see a gestational sack, a yolk sac and a fetal pole. In your early stages it is hard to tell if you are in a position of miscarriage etc, so if there is no yolk sac or embryo visible they are likely to call you back in within a week or so, for another check. Make sure you keep calm and look after yourself during this period. Feel free to connect with me if you have questions about the scan and I can talk to you about my experience. Both NHS and privately at 6 weeks x

Thank you very much for your reply. I just followed your advice and rang my EPU but they said that they cant support me without a referral from the gp and looks like im not getting that. Just need to hope that the private scan gives me some clarity and answers some questions. Once more thanks :)

I think if you dial 111 they can refer you themselves, it doesn’t have to go through your GP, that’s how I got mine. Hopefully the private one provides you some peace of mind (this is likely to be an internal one if they have not already told you)😌 sending my love and well wishes x

You can just walk into a&e long wait I know but you’ll get scanned and bloods done
