Saying words then stopping?

My son started saying mama around 9 months old and now says dada and nana however he says these all day for a few days and then will stop and start saying it again. I haven’t heard him say any of these for the past couple of weeks. Is this common? I worry as my older son has autism and regressed with all speech at 13 months old and is still non verbal

Yep! My son will be 1 in 2 weeks, he has been mumbling words since 5/6 months, he was saying mama, dada and more for at least 2 months then suddenly stopped, it took me a few days to notice but I figured it was due to him starting to really move around like crawling and pulling himself up on furniture, but after a month I really started to worry especially after looking online (which really doesn’t help but we’re all guilty of it!) then all of a sudden last week he started talking again! I tell you the relief I felt when he say mama again! Made me cry like a baby! I had asked a few of my other Mum friends and it seems like most of their baby’s stopped for a little while whilst learning to walk so I think it’s quite common, try not to worry! X

Thanks for the response! Made me feel a lot better ☺️ After my first sons regression he’s nearly 3 now and still zero understanding, no words and can’t communicate at all but could at 12 months it’s so hard not to overanalyse and worry about my youngest 🥹 He’s been walking since 9/10 months so I think he’s definitely focusing a lot more on his movement and hopefully he’ll start speaking more again!

My son’s first word was dada and he said it for about a week (months ago) and hasn’t said it since. 🤷🏼‍♀️ my husband is upset about it, but he says several other words so Iv put it down to a preference for other words to get what he needs. He has slowly been making a sound that sounds like dada in the last two days
