Just a PSA you can get your baby vaccinated for chicken pox

I’m sharing just because a lot of mums with toddler’s my son’s age didn’t know this. Now they’re all getting chickenpox and it looks horrific! It’s not on the NHS routine vaccination schedule yet so you have to pay about £75 per dose for two doses, however it pays for itself in terms of the time your child will be off nursery when they catch it. We got my toddler’s first dose at 9 months and are doing the same with this baby. It’s the one vaccination my toddler had literally zero side effects from. Each dose has to be either 4 weeks before or after MMR, or one of the doses can be done at the same time as MMR (which they have at 12 months). You can go through Superdrug or Boots, but a lot of local pharmacies offer it usually for slightly cheaper. No judgement please, if you’re not into it go ahead and scroll on by! Sharing the info in case anyone didn’t know.

We are getting ours definitely!!

Oh thank you ! I never heard of this ! Does it help to make them.less poorly when they get it? X

We did the same for our toddler who is now three and will be doing the same for our nine month old. Her entire class at preschool have had chicken pox really badly and have been so miserable and she didn’t get it due to the vaccination. She suffers badly with eczema so anything impacting her skin makes her really miserable so we are very glad we chose to vaccinate her!

@Amber there’s a good chance they won’t catch it at all if they’re vaccinated! It was going around my toddler’s nursery and he was sent home with a slight fever one day but was back the next day. The kids who got it and weren’t vaccinated were out well over a week with it and had all the spots etc
