Feel so deflated

My son has started saying dada over last week or da da but he’s first proper word was hiya. He hasn’t seen he’s dad since he was 6 weeks old so me and my family don’t say it around him so hear him say it constantly at moment has really hurt i know it’s easier to say then mama but i feel so pants 🥹🩵🦁

Are you sure your LO is not only bubbling?

@Carmen could but it sounds like da da

Our girl says da da and dada all the time, but we don't count that as a word as she has no idea what that means - doesn't look at my husband when saying it, etc. We are only taking her first word when we know she knows what it means by looking at the thing she's saying or waving at someone and saying hiya x

Just saying because my LO says Dada and Mama a lot, but I don’t think she is referring to us. I’m thinking it’s easy for her to say that words

I felt the same way and then felt guilty but now it’s kinda reversed and all he wants is mommy. I would just try to take it easy

Dada is just one of the first sounds many babies happen to make - it’s an easier noise to make than mama! It’s one of a range of babbling noises our little makes, she hasn’t a clue that I’m mama or her dad is dada - she just likes making the noises!

@Rachel yeah my boy will look at someone and wave and say hiya so i count that as he’s first word or if i’m on facetime to my mum he will say hiya xx

My girls first word was Pab. The dog is called Pablo 🤦🏼‍♀️ She also doesn’t have a dad and hasn’t started doing the da-da yet but I know it’s coming. Sometimes it does sound like it but it’s usually ba-ba. She randomly said mum for the first time on Sunday and has said it a few times since but has no idea what it means. She doesn’t wave or say hiya or anything though 😂

My baby is a sperm donor baby so dad not around - she says dada. It’s just normal part of their development . Good thing they are saying it and nothing to do with mama and dada. I’m all for it, I gotta get a video and send it to her bio dad and say she’s finally saying it 😂

Dada is phonetically easier to say, try not to let it get to you - my 9 month old lg does the same x

Mine says dada but not at my partner. It’s just babble don’t worry ❤️

My little boy doesn't see his dad either and he says it. They're just exploring their voices and making sounds. He says mama baba and dada but he'll babble mama all the time but also when he's sad
