Appointment

Hi tomorrow I have an appointment at the hospital and it just says Obstetrics - Antenatal Appointment but I’m only 7 weeks so would that be a scan appointment? Or just bloods etc

If its your first appointment then its blood and the midwife will fill out details in the folder and on the computer. Your weight and height is also measured. You keep the folder and being it with you to all your appointments. Also, bring snacks for yourself as this appointment will take some time (2hrs in the letter). The second appt. is scan etc.

Oh I didn’t get a letter I just got a message on the NHS app that I had an appointment. Doesn’t say much apart from which department I need to go to. It’s so confusing

This is the initial appointment, they go over medical history of you and your partner, observations check, height+weight check and bloods. Scans are usually at 12 weeks and 20 weeks. Unless medically high risk and you need more, but otherwise you only get 2 scans. And definitely take snacks or something to do whilst waiting. Longest we were sat in the waiting room was over 3 hours! Clinics always run late, and WiFi is a bit rubbish, data doesn't connect either, so you'll get bored and frustrated quite quickly. I ended up taking my crochet in most appointments ha 🙃 Hope it goes well!
