When to bathe baby?

I have a 3 mo and a 2 year old son, and my husband bathes my 2 year old in the evening while i feed baby. Because I'm on mat leave for 9 months I thought I'd just bathe my baby in the day si that it doesn't interrupt my sons evening routine. Everyone though is telling me it's better I start bathing baby in the evening as it forms a part of their bed time routine understanding. Can't I do this post 9-12months? Thought by that point I'll just bathe them together in the evening, rather than struggle and do them both right now in the evening. Will it make a huge difference if I bathe her for the next 8-9 months in the day? 🤨 I can still do milk, bedtime story, music and bed with her and skip the bath... Would like some advice 🥹

You do what works for you! 🥰 With our first we were set on routines and thought that really helped, however life with a newborn and toddler in tow doesn’t always work out as simply and easy as everyone thinks. Our second is 4 months old and we have no set routine at all for him. If I’m honest I don’t think we will for a while, he’s happy just slotting in with our toddlers routine and that works for us all x

Hey! I’m a pediatric sleep consultant and you can definitely skip the bath portion of the night routine and add it in whenever you choose to. The main thing is just being consistent with whatever you choose to do as a bedtime routine and it’ll become their cues for sleep. Baths can just be really relaxing for most babies so that’s why it’s suggested as a good sleepy cue. 😊

I have an 11 week old and an almost 3 year old. I give the baby a bath one evening, the toddler the next evening, and break the 3rd, then start over. Obviously if one of the boys gets extra dirty, I'll change it up and bathe them sooner, but this keeps it balanced for me. I try to avoid bathing daily as it can get hard on their skin. But having the baths on separate nights makes it easier for me to manage.
