Prams for second time mums

Hi! This will be my second baby and my youngest will be 21 months when baby is born. Honest opinions would you but a double pram(looking at a second hand one from someone we know) or would you see it as a waste of money and go for something like a buggy board or uptown rider? My partner seems to think the uptown rider is fine but it will be me with nothing kids 90% of the time so I'm thinking a double pram would be more suited. Need some others opinions especially regarding the age, my LB still naps too.

It really depends on your toddler because some toddlers will be happy to walk long periods and stand on a buggy board or just use reins but others (like my little boy) refuses to walk long distance or even short distance at times 🫠but he also really hates the pram. He won’t get on a buggy board. He has developmental delays and additional needs so I just think it’s safer for him to be in a pram weather he likes it or not. If he had it his way he’d want me to carry him everywhere but I physically can’t do that. He doesn’t understand that it’s either walk or pram so I’m going to get a double pram and hope for the best it’s the safest option really. When the baby in here he will be 34 months old just about to turn 3.

My two have 15 months between them and we got a double but honestly we could have done without it. Of course there were days it was helpful but realistically I could have done without it quite happily. My eldest started walking at 10 months and loved to walk and she’s never ran away from me, she likes to hold onto the buggy even now at 3. We used it as a double on and off for about 6 months before we just left it in single mode. I don’t drive and walk basically everywhere and my husband’s away a lot with the army so it’s just me and the kids a lot and I found it easier not using it as the double. Ours is so heavy and bulky and a nightmare on public transport when it’s in double mode. After my son was born via section I couldn’t even push it up curbs because it was so heavy. This time around we’ll be doing baby wearing as the weather should be nice so my 2 year old can still use the buggy when he needs it and if it’s particularly busy and when we get to Autumn/Winter reassess and see

if we need a buggy board x

There was 2years and a day between my boys and I got a double pushchair. I saw it as my spare pair of hands when out on my own and needed somewhere to put the oldest to have snacks while I fed the baby etc… now we’re expecting baby no.3 who will be 16 months apart from my current youngest and will still use the double, plus a buggy board for if my 3 year old gets tired or wants somewhere to sit to eat while we walk. But it depends on your lifestyle and how often you’d use it? We go out multiple times a day walking so find it’s been really handy. It’s like my base when I’m solo parenting 😅

I’m torn of this, my toddler will be 3 and is happy to walk but he’s a flight risk, he’s also still napping and we often use the pram for this when out so I’m feel like it’s safer and easier to have a double. On the flip side it’s going to be rare that I’m ever out on my own with them both especially for the first few months so I’m edging towards risking it for now and panic buy something on marketplace if the situation requires

I've opted for a double.. my two and a half year old still asks for the pram and I'd rather her have somewhere to nap or have a sit especially when I'm on my own with both. We've gone for the bugaboo donkey 5.. when the time comes, we can easily turn it into a single and get a buggy board once she's older

Thanks everyone ☺️ I think I've made my mind up. I'm going for a double that can be a single when needed! Xx

I never bothered with a double. They're often a pain in the backside - heavy, or wide in shops and public transport etc. I opted for a carrier and single.
