Babysitter search!

Hello! I just signed up for care.com as I am in the market for a babysitter? This is the first time I’ve ever searched for a babysitter, first time I am searching for someone to stay and care for my children without me around. Has anybody ever done this? Has anybody ever done this for the first time in learned something they didn’t realize about this kind of search? I’m basically looking for all information about a babysitter and what to look out for and all that. S.O.S

I am a nanny and have been nannying for the past four years. I have never personally looked for somebody to watch my daughter, as I bring her with me. However, I would definitely ask questions about how they handle situations with big emotions, if they believe in timeouts, stuff that you as a parent don’t or possibly do agree with. Make sure they are CPR certified. I would also make sure that they have a clean, driving record, and that their car is safe and reliable to be driving around. Make sure that they are familiar with car seat laws and how to properly restrain a child. I would also make sure that they are on board with any specific dietary or allergy needs. I would ask them to come over and do a trial run so I can see how they interact with my children. And if it were me, I would have a nanny, Cam.
