Family planning help!

Hey everyone, I just had a baby girl recently and now starting to think about family planning. Don’t plan on having another kid for at least 5 years, so I’m looking into long-term birth control options. Any suggestions for contraceptives that actually work and don’t mess with your body too much? Would love to hear what’s worked (or not worked) for you! Thanks a bunch!

Mirena coil worked the best for me pre-pregnancy.

@Yana how did you find that? I’ve heard it’s super painful getting it?

@Sinèad I had laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis and they put in the coil while I was under general anaesthesia, so I didn't feel it then. But yes, friends have said it's quite uncomfortable, but nothing else worked for me so I'm planning on getting it again soon.

I got the copper coil years ago and had literally the worst experience with it. Was so painful going in and then for about 3 days after I could only lie down as if I sat, I was in excruciating pain. It was also sitting super low and because the pain etc I went back and said I didn’t think they put it in right to which I was told it had been done perfectly. They said they’d trim the string so it wasn’t sitting as low and as soon as they touched it, they yanked it out. Blood everywhere 🙃 she then made a joke about how it obviously wasn’t in right and I was actually correct. I marched out and didn’t get anything else 😂 for that reason I would never get any coil again however, I do know loads that have had a great experience with the coil. One of my friends swears by it and wouldn’t use anything else x

I had the coil and it didn't hurt me a single bit going in & then I had some mild period cramps afterwards. X

I’ve had the copper coil a few times now and hands down easiest and best form of contraception I’ve ever used - non-hormonal and once it’s in you don’t need to think about contraception again for a good few years 😅
