hyper mobility

me and my partner (daughters dad) both have hyper mobility on a high level. my daughter is 2 and never displayed signs but lately I have been noticing she stands and sits in some strange positions. would you say she is just being a toddler or is it an early sign? (picture below) I would be surprised if she doesn't lol

I would talk to the doctor and they can refer her for early intervention –

My LB (turning 2 tomorrow) has hypermobile joint syndrome and isn’t walking yet. Her leg position does look similar to how he leans against furniture. I’d say have it checked out by a physio. Even if it doesn’t cause her any problems now, it could in the future and having that information on her records could be useful

I don't have hypermobility, I used to stand like that. I just found it comfortable

They don’t do testing unfortunately until age 5 as babies & toddlers are normally flexible. I also have hyper mobility & son used to sit in the W position used to tell him/ correct his sitting position. He now sits normally he grow out of doing it.

Most the time hyper mobility & connective tissue diagnoses aren’t made until kids are older, because kids connective tissue is still forming so it’s hard to get an accurate read on what is out of the norm & what is just something a child is able to do with their body.
