Growth scans & percentiles

Hey I’ve just seen a post about baby’s weight at around 28weeks, I’m guessing most people who’ve commented have regular growth scans as do I. Naturally I’m anxious but now I’m wondering what other babies weighed around a similar time and what percentile they’re on if you don’t mind sharing. I’m 30 weeks and my baby is approximately 2lbs 2oz and he’s dropped from the 17th percentile to the 7th. I’m seeing that some babies are on higher ones and I’d really like to get there to help baby grow. Any tips or advice welcome, I’d really just like my baby to be a good weight. Biggest baby I’ve had was 6lbs 3oz smallest i had was 4lbs 7oz.

It’s hard to tell without knowing your whole health details and history, but a good thing to look into is diet. How’s your diet like? Do you get enough protein? In the third trimester the requirements are very high and can be tricky to get there sometimes. I highly recommend looking into content by Lily Nichols. She has an amazing book, blog and IG account. Hydrolyzed collagen powder is also amazing in the third trimester, it helps all the growing and stretching! Here is one of her articles, but there are sooo many more if you don’t want to buy her book: https://lilynicholsrdn.com/protein-requirements-pregnancy/

Had a growth scan at 30weeks and mines about 3.8lbs but I think it’s more due to my husband being really tall than anything else. But if baby has dropped so much aren’t they offering you more scans??? Babies should usually follow the same pattern all through on the chart xx

Yes I have scans every 2 weeks, they’ve been really great but as much as I eat I’ve only just started gaining weight the past 2 weeks. I’m back in Wednesday so I’m hoping he’s grown enough for me to keep him in but they advised in my last pregnancy to deliver at 30 weeks because I had the same problem but I managed to hang out until 36 weeks and delivered then instead. He’s always been behind growth wise but feel concerned it’s so different to other babies when we are only a few lbs out 😩

@Shantae aww bless him! Girl hang on let me ask my nana 😭 she’s a matron xx

So basically it’s not about how much you eat but what you eat, so you gotta keep vitamins etc up at all times from foods so you know the things the midwife checks in your blood tests? Iron, vit d all the others, drink water like your life depends on it, and possibly check if there are any underlying health issues if it’s been a similar case to your last xx

I know that’s very vague but I hope it helps x

Someone suggested upping my protein so I will, they’ve doubled my vitamin d so hoping that helps I’m literally willing to try anything

@Shantae love your commitment!! Definitely look into Lily Nichols, she is truly the best person for pregnancy nutrition 🥰 protein sources matter too, and she explains it amazingly and includes recipes too!

@Shantae sent you a private message xx
