Do you want to know if it’s possible or you want an experience. Also do you mind sharing the reason why you’re wanting this if you don’t mind xx

Had a C-section in 2022 having another one in 19 days I go in on the 7th this month for presurgical testing where they will find a combination of what works for me for anesthesia will also do blood test to determine my blood type incase of need of blood transfusion

I had an emergency under GA. What would you like to know?

Folllowing

I did

Thank you! This is because of a spinal fusion potentially getting in the way of regional anaesthetic. What was your experience like when you came around from GA? Did you feel you missed out on a key bonding moment? I’d love to hear your experiences of immediately coming around/meeting baby/healing etc?

For me the whole process was fine, I woke up and wasn’t out of it, bonding happened straight away and had we had a successful breastfeeding journey. My c-section recovery was great and I was going on walks by day 5 so I’d say I had a really positive experience. However, when I look back I feel a bit sad that me and my husband both missed the birth of our child but considering everything went smoothly I can’t be too upset by it

I woke up and baby was next to me with his dad and I took him immediately, but then they had to take him to special care and couldn’t see him much as I couldn’t stand up

I had an emergency c-section with a general anaesthetic. The actual operation was fine, and I recovered fine as well, but... it took me a while to be able to connect the fact that everything happened so fast and I went to sleep and now I have a baby. It wasn't the bonding part. That was fine. I EBF as well, so no issues there, just the fact that it felt like my brain couldn't accept that I gave birth or something. Maybe it is coming from the fact that I never even considered a second a c-section, and I got one... but I still feel like I've missed the birth of my child 😔

Same as above, it was the worst thing ever for me, I missed almost 3 hours of my sons life and felt like I was suffocating when coming round, i never heard him cry, never got to hold him first, can hardly remember the cord being cut ect all the “special” moments you should get with your first baby never happened for me almost feels like I was robbed. I suppose this may be a different feeling for a planned GA section. I’m now pregnant with no 2 and am planning a spinal section at the moment just to have more control rather than risk another GA x

I had my little boy by a c-section under a general anaesthetic. What would you like to know? X

I had one under GA and one that was elective. So if you want to ask anything my inbox is always open!

I woke up and had really bad detachment from my baby. Having said that, my labor was 20 hours long in total before going under GA and some people have super positive outcomes. I personally felt I missed out and I woke up and couldn’t accept the baby next to me was mine. The thought of being awake for a c-section scared me so much but now knowing what I missed out on, the fear shouldn’t have taken over

I had GA with my c section, and it caused my baby to not be able to breathe on his own requiring breathing tubes and feeding tubes, because of the affect of GA on my baby, I had to go for this route because spinal block and local anesthetic injections failed to do anything. I feel I missed out on over 11 hours of not being with my baby afterwards, I missed skin to skin and bonding/giving him his first feed, however that's just how it was for me, and im grateful he was okay thats what mattered most.
