i’ve heard from other moms on here that the earlier you start them on speech therapy the better so id say if your concerned listen to your gut and find a solution instead of potentially waiting to see if it fixes itself vs seeing a professional to identify what’s going on ❤️😄
@Chelsea this is so well put & helpful 🩷thank you!
@Andrea yes so I have a speech therapy appointment this week. & I’m honestly proud I went with my gut. No one else sees an issue. But me as a mother I know. Thank you so much
You are not alone! My son is 2 and I’m in the same boat. It’s definitely worrisome and also frustrating because I want my son to communicate to me, my husband, and our caregivers. We are seeking Speech Therapy services. And, I’m more at ease knowing that I’m advocating for my son and not leaving it to chance.
Don’t be sad!!! 😢 They say males develop speech later than girls do. And if he’s communicating in some fashion, that’s an amazing thing, so cut him and yourself some slack. If by age 3 there is little to no improvement, I would start looking into a speech therapist. If you’re not already, start doing small 2-3 word phrases yourself and really pronounce your words… “Mama eat lunch” and eat your lunch. “Mama drink” and take a drink. “Go for drive” before yall drive somewhere. Say what he’s doing when he does something in a small phrase “(child’s name) play trucks/blocks/ball”. You get it. But try to do it with as much of your daily activity as possible EVERY DAY, over and over.
