Fundal Height

Hey everyone, I am really panicking at the moment - it was my 28th appointment and the fundal height is 25cm (apparently it was the same at 25th week) - doctor has asked for a growth scan but i am super anxious. Has anyone faced this issue and can help me with it. Also if there are any suggestions on how to increase fundal height?

This is my 2nd pregnancy and in both I’ve been referred for growth scans based on fundal height - if you do your own research, fundal height is a really inaccurate measurement. There’s so many variables. Scans are more accurate, so try not to worry and wait for that! My first baby was born no issues, just a little smaller (but I’m a small person so would expect it!)

Everytime I had my fundal height measured it was "off" and I was sent for a growth scan! Even the midwife said it was pointless 🤣. Honestly try not to worry and enjoy seeing your baby again on the scan xx

Even growth scans aren’t accurate, none of my recent group were given the right weight and it varied by up to 3lb! Best thing to do is just keep being healthy and don’t worry xx

In my personal experience, I found all the scans and monitoring and testing actually stressed me out more than the issues themselves they all claim to address. With my second pregnancy I just found myself declining all the scans and ultrasounds bc they messed with me so much! Like the other moms commenting—most of the measurements and estimations made by OBs and their technicians are wildly inaccurate anyways.

@Steph⚡️ I did the same thing. They tried to convince me to have an abortion based on “scans” with my first son. He was born entirely healthy. No issues whatsoever. I declined all future scans with all my kids, except 20 weeks anatomy

Findal heights are so inaccurate but so are growth scans. My son was measuring on the 50th percentile right up to the day before his birth on growth scans but he was born 0.4 percentile so nearly 50% error! I’ll also add that although he was slim, he was perfectly healthy and still is now at 2 years old. Try not to stress about it. It’s good they’re keeping an eye on you and baby still. It should still give you reassurance to see baby.

I got sent for a growth scans with my first because my fundal height was below the 3rd percentile - he ended up being 99th Percentile baby

Fundal height is so inaccurate, most places don’t even do it anymore. I’m 35 weeks and haven’t been measured once. You could have two people do it one after the other and get wildly different results. I honestly wouldn’t worry and just look forward to seeing your baby on a scan again :)

My fundal height was low my whole pregnancy!! My boy was 9 days late… he was 6lb 14oz. I think he waited 9 days just to give himself more time to grow!! He is 9 months (today!!) and still only in 3-6 month clothing but is super healthy, happy and FULL of energy. I had a growth scan and honestly don’t worry and just think… you get another chance to see baby. The scan showed he was fine compared to the chart anyway!! Remember everyone is different and it is “just a number” … You’ll be fine!!

Thank you so much everyone, this makes me feel better ❤️
