Below £100 you could get a decent maxi cosi infant carrier without a base
Babies should be rear facing for as long as physically possible. They should be securely strapped into that seat throughout the entire journey. I think depending on the car seat, you can seat belt it but I’d personally get a support base for that extra bit of security☺️ If you’re using/buying a secondhand one, you need to make sure that car seat hasn’t been in any accidents, check the conditions of it, the seat also shouldn’t be more than a few years old x
Also I didn’t know the answers to many of your questions when I first fell pregnant, so please don’t feel silly for asking! Luckily my sister works in a shop that sells/stocks car seats & other baby bits so she has educated me on a lot x
The isofix bases give an additional layer of safety and security, however it is still possible to get seatbelt ones if your car doesn’t have isofix. Legallybyour baby must be rear facing until over 15 months in the uk, but the longer they rear face, the safer they are. It is not legal to remove your baby from their car seat in a moving vehicle, though I have had to pull over at points on longer drives and settle or feed baby, but you must find somewhere to park to do this first 😊 https://www.gov.uk/child-car-seats-the-rules#:~:text=They%20must%20be%20rear%2Dfacing,be%20used%20in%20the%20UK. Gov.uk has some useful info x
Neither Seat belt or isofix are safer than the other. Isofix gives less room for human error, but they are both equally as safe when installed correctly. You cannot take a child out of their car seat in a moving vehicle. Rear facing is safest until at least age 5, 15 months isn’t the official legal minimum age as it depends on the seat, some are height based and some are weight based.
1) depends on child's age 2)isofix base in my opinion is safer 3) you shouldn't put baby on lap, should be stopping at services giving baby breaks, and get some kind of distraction to help baby settled 4) there all probably over £100
How old is the child you need a car seat for? 1. Rear facing is safer, and depending on the age or weight of your child it may be illegal to forward face. 2. Seatbelt and isofix are both safe, they're not safer than one another when installed correctly. 3. No, it's illegal in a car and unsafe 4. This depends what age child the seat is for. If you need an infant carrier then the maxi Cosi cabriofix i size
Rear facing is safer...we'll go as long as possible, maybe age 6. You cannot hold baby in the car but you can talk to them and sit next to them to comfort them
How old is your child? A baby should a lawyer be rear facing, you can buy a seat with or without a base depends entirely on the seat. No you can’t take the baby out and put on your lap. If you were to crash at the point your child would be flung from your arms and likely die. Sorry to be blunt but that is so dangerous
