@Emily thank you, that's so helpful. I want to be on it but not demanding. I think I got a bit freaked as they didn't know my blood type at 21 weeks and only realised when I brought it up but I guess mistakes can happen!
Nothing wrong with checking - I have a condition where I have too much iron in my blood, and doctors still put me on vitamins that contained iron, and when my bloods came back from my 12 week scan with very high iron levels, nobody said anything. It wasn't until I pointed it out at my 20 week appointment that they told me not to take any vitamins anymore 😂 so it was missed at both my 12 week and 16 week. So you're just right to check! But as Emily said, sometimes they're maybe holding back until they need to say so as not to cause anxiety. X
I’m 35 weeks and have never been measured. It’s an outdated way of monitoring growth as is so inaccurate anyway.
@Ashley thank you, I hope you're ok now!
@Sarah thanks Sarah, I did wonder what measurements would do if you don't know how big a person was before...
They only measure you from 28 weeks based on my midwife.... It's more a marker for them to confirm things are on track rather than exact decision making especially if you don't have various growth scans due to other issues. They do test you iron again at 28 weeks from what I am being told.
@Ana thank you!
This is normal! I’m already over 27 weeks and they don’t start measuring until 28. This was confirmed by my hospital doctors too as had to have scans for growth due to a separate issue. Also your anti D jabs if I’m correct are given between 28-30 weeks. You’ll be due a midwife appointment then so they will just do it then. They don’t usually talk too much about things to you until you actually need it - probably to stop people worrying and overthinking. Like I’ll need medication from 32 weeks for something else, but this hasn’t been mentioned at all since my booking app. But it is in my notes so they won’t forget to give it me ☺️
