Child benefit underpayment?
So my little one is 8 months old and a couple weeks ago I just got his birth certificate sorted and finally applied for child benefit. I looked on my CRA account and it says CRA will be giving me an underpayment for all the missed months… did anyone else have this and received the money?

I didn’t get the tax payments for seven months or so with my first and then I received backpay as well
Majority of the time they will do this! Plus it was also just tax season so they might just hold off as it all get reevaluated next month I’m pretty sure
Yes they will give back pay, depending on when your little one was born in the month will also determine when it starts. My little one was born on the last day of the current month so the benefit came into effect for the following month.
Perfect thank you ladies! Just wanted to see as I fell into early labour when I was abroad so had to wait until I got back home to have his birth certificate sent to Canada

they were behind on giving child tax payments when I had my daughter so I only got my first payment when she was four months and they gave me the backpay
