@Rachael that’s what I was asking, my doctor has said he will prescribe me Provera to start a period but he won’t prescribe me letrozole as it hasn’t been a year yet since not having a period it’s only 5 months as I was on the depo. So I didn’t know if anyone has took this and ovulated like normal or if I’m just gunna take this and just get a period and nothing else x
Provera is only used to induce a period or what they would call a "withdrawal bleed" you would like metformin, letrozole, clomid etc for ovulation. I dont ovulate on my own so just taking the provera to have a period wouldnt help me ovulate. I had to take letrozole for the ovulation portion. However, if you never had an issue ovulating on your own, inducing a period and testing for ovulation would be the best way to go at this time since your doctor does not want to prescribe ovulation medication at this time.
@Patrice yes I never had a problem with ovulation before, we got pregnant the first month of trying with our son. However I went on the depo and haven’t had a period since so this is why I am taking preveno so I’m hoping it helps me and I ovulate again, if not I have to wait till it’s been a year until he refers me xx
@Sam i think with the provera, once you have your withdrawal bleed, you should ovulate but also, have you looked in other doctors like fertility specialists to push the fertility meds? I didnt go through my primary care doctor and I ended up going to a fertility clinic that helped.
I just did 7 days of provera, I am now day 8 since stopping waiting for a period to start so I can take hormone injections as 9 cycles of letrozole didn't help me this time around. I have an almost 4yr old that I conceived with letrozole
Provera doesn't help with ovulation. It helps to make you have a period or "withdrawal bleed" as my fertility clinic likes to say 😂. And then you take different medications to induce ovulation, if needed
