3 year old speech delay

Looking for support/help please! My just turned 3 year old is delayed with his speech, particularly at nursery. At home he’s a bit behind but is coming on well but from his nursery they are concerned and saying he babbles but doesn’t say much (key workers have said he talks but the manager says he doesn’t!) I feel although he’s a bit behind it’s not particularly worrying me as he’s progressing but as he’s not within nursery they’re now pressing for HV intervention and I’m happy to do anything to help my son but I can’t help feel there’s something wrong at the nursery causing him to be quiet like constant staff changes or the fact his sister 2 years younger is with him rather than in the baby room due to staffing so he’s “out of routine” which they are saying he struggles with but I don’t find he does at home!

I think it is totally normal for a child to act differently in a different environment! And especially to feel more vulnerable than at home! But then in the flip of that, certain behaviours might not show with you because he is safe and you are his routine!

My kid is shy about her speech around others. Shyness is normal but I would think in nursery, somewhere he is weekly/daily, he would say some basics at least. Is he new at nursery? Maybe overtime he’ll open up. Shyness isn’t concerning but babbling is a little concerning truthfully but maybe he’s mimicking his little sister since that’s the only person he’s comfortable with there. If he’s speaking well at home then I wouldn’t be too concerned but I’d probably go along with the speech therapy anyway. It’s a good resource.
