Interesting! My OB does growth scans at 20, 32, and 36 weeks. I would tell your OB you would like a growth scan. Let your doc know your concerns. If you don't feel heard, it may be worth talking with a different doc. Or maybe they can do a BPP. That's just a different type od ultrasound. They can determine baby's positioning from a BPP.
Usually you won’t get any more ultrasounds after 20 weeks unless there’s a concern. With my first, I was measuring on track and low risk like you so I didn’t get any extra ultrasounds. My second pregnancy measured 6 weeks behind and my daughter measured small from the ultrasound. It sucks not getting more scans but think of it as a blessing! You’re having a healthy pregnancy!
I'm definitely not educated on the official protocol but it might depends on the OB? I got a couple growth scans but my baby is measuring ahead as well so that might be why. If you're wondering about the position you can definitely ask your OB, they kinda push on the belly to feel where the head might be!
It’s actually normal to only 3 ultrasounds throughout your entire pregnancy with only one of those being a full anatomy scan and one your dating scan. Unless, of course, you’re at high risk. Totally normal! Some OB’s will opt to do a couple more but that’s provider preference
I personally would take it as a positive that they don’t need to do more. They’re not worried about anything from what they’ve seen so far which is great news.
Yeah I think it’s great that they aren’t concerned and you are low risk. ☺️ an ultrasound isn’t needed to determine baby’s positioning, that can be determined by feeling your belly later on. I’m in the same position and only did the anatomy scan
Baby can turn head down up until labor, sometimes even during labor. I’ve experienced my breeched baby not turning until the morning of my scheduled delivery at 38w + 3d. My OB office only does an ultrasound at the initial appointment, at 20 weeks for anatomy scan, and lastly one at 36 weeks unless it’s a high risk pregnancy. I don’t think you should worry until you’re 37 weeks along and don’t feel the change in your body. You can usually tell where baby is positioned based on where they kick and how much pressure is in your pelvis. If you still feel like something is wrong at 37 weeks, definitely request an ultrasound and be persistent about it.
Same I haven’t had a scan since 23 weeks and wasn’t going to get another until 36
I’m currently 33 weeks and 2 days along with my second baby and can feel that he’s in a transverse position based on where he kicks me. The only reason I’m not worried is because I know that I still have a month until I’m full term and he truly can turn at any point before birth. I also don’t feel any contractions, not even braxton hicks, so I’m not worried about a preterm birth. There are some exercises and stretches you can try to open up space in your pelvis for baby to move. Whenever I’m sitting, I make sure my knees are spread apart. If I’m laying in bed just hanging out, I lay belly down with my butt up. There are so many things you can try though like curb walking/ miles circuit.
Yes, it's normal. "Normal" varies, but for a low a low risk pregnancy, it's normal to only have 1-2 ultrasounds. Up until just about 13 years ago, you'd be lucky if you got 1 or more than 1. I'm high risk because of my first born, so I ended up getting a 30 week ultrasound as well which was overall my 5th ultrasound this pregnancy.
I have two more ultrasounds at least, at 36 weeks and 37 weeks. One is at my high risk doctor and one is normally done with my OB office regardless.
I wasn’t supposed to have another scan but my midwife offered another growth scan because my first daughter was large when born just to make sure my current baby wasn’t trending in the same direction and she is…🫥
I only got 2 scans for both pregnancies and that’s pretty standard, unless you have any complications that warrant additional scans. As for telling the position of your baby your OB doesn’t need a scan to know that. They can easily feel for it. They always tell me babies position during every app.
My OB said to me that before labor they will always check to make sure baby is in proper birthing position, at my growth scan my girl was frank breech and they said they still have plenty of time to move head down.

@Kylie Omg I love a frank breech baby because they usually sleep in the same position once born also they’re relatively safe to deliver vaginally
@Reagan this reply made me feel a lot better about my situation 🥹
@Kylie aww I’m glad❤️ it’s the most adorable thing they usually want to sleep with their feet by their face and a lot of the time they’re super flexible so get that gymnastics membership ready😅
We don’t in the uk unless there a particular risk around the pregnancy.
I’m 37 weeks and she’s not head down yet lol
