Heartbeat?

I went last week for my 16 week appointment and asked this question and got told they don’t listen to the heartbeat at all before 20 weeks as sometimes they’re unable to find it which then just causes unnecessary stress and anxiety.

I think it depends on your midwife but mine checked it but just explained that it can be hard to find it so not to panic if she couldn’t find it straight away but luckily it didn’t take too long for my midwife to find my babies heartbeat x

My midwife said they don’t usually check the heartbeat until 25 week appointment as sometimes they’re unable to find it and don’t want to cause panic, but I asked her could she and it was on me if she couldn’t find it, so she did 🫶🏻 You can definitely ask x

Mine checked the heartbeat at the 16 week appointment and also said it can take a while to find but found if pretty much straight away

I had a 18 week appointment and heart beat was only checked as I requested it as I fell over at 14 weeks and didn't want to get bad news at 20week scan.

I didn’t have a 16 week appointment think that’s due to being 2nd pregnancy.. so this was my first appointment since my booking one :) We did hear the heartbeat so I’m really glad! Xx
